Rodolphus Lestrange is the first born of Septimus and Muscida Lestrange. Typical of the first born son, Rodolphus was treated like gold. His father showered him with gifts and special treatment. When Rabastan came, their father practically ignored him, preferring to spend all his time on Rodolphus. Rodolphus thrived in these conditions and he became a quick learner. Rodolphus was soon obsessed with magic, especially dark magic, which was pushed by his father. He was never interested in the theory behind magic, but Rodolphus has always been exceptionally talented with a wand. Rodolphus isn't close with his father, but they have a good relationship. He respects his father, and listens to what he says.

The boys' mother on the other hand, is a different story. Like all women, Rodolphus sees her as lower than himself. He may hear what she says, but he never listens, nor does what she asks. He loves her in his own way, but barely respects her. In this aspect, Rodolphus is a true copy of his father.

From an early age, Rodolphus learned of Dark Arts, and became immediately intrigued. Rodolphus began reading about Dark Arts and practicing spells. Rabastan was an easy target, and the boys threw hexes at each other from an early age. Rodolphus's father was always on his side, and if there was punishment it was to Rabastan. From this obsession, Rodolphus became a very fine spell worker. He can throw a hex or two within seconds, but when it comes to bookwork he's very poor. School isn't exactly his thing, at the moment he's just biding his time until he can join the Death Eaters.

As the boys grew, they grew very close. Although vastly different, there soon became no way to separate the boys. One of Rodolphus's greatest fears is Rabastan dying, and so Rodolphus tends to do whatever (although often unnecessary) he can to protect Rabastan. During the school year, Rodolphus doesn't talk to Rabastan nearly as much. In fact, he is often seen poking fun at Rabastan. Rodolphus feels that being close with Rabastan would hurt his reputation, and so he is instead cold and distant in public. In the summer, all Rodolphus's mask come off, and they are together 24/7. One summer, Rabastan was reading through some of the books in their library, and found one about making your own spells. From then on, Rodolphus became obsessed with creating spells. Rodolphus fits the pureblood stereotype. He is proud of his bloodlines, and refuses to talk to muggle-borns or half-bloods. Rodolphus sees pureblood as a status, and he's at the top of the pyramid. Along with this, he thinks that muggles should be destroyed, and after them they might as well destroy mudbloods. Truthfully, he has a hard time speaking to anyone that's outside of Slytherin, and if he does it's generally a sly insult.

The "friends" Rodolphus has made are very lucky. He has spent most of his days looking up dark magic, and practiced the spells just as much. If he sees someone as a true friend, he will not think twice about protecting them by any means. Rodolphus sees himself as a leader and will not have anyone outshining him. Of course, he doesn't generally show off, he only challenges those who are already strutting. He's been very good at picking out wizards with potential, and his "allies" are those who became Death Eaters.

Cocky is a word that fits Rodolphus well. He is self-absorbed, which is likely induced by the treatment from his father. Rodolphus has a hard time concealing anything he is proud of. He often throws around insulting comments to make himself sound bigger & better, and insists on bragging. Unfortunately, this kind of behaviours is one of the things that is bound to get him in trouble with the Dark Lord. Rodolphus's ego is not only reserved for enemies and friends, women also get a taste of it. Women, for Rodolphus, are there for his entertainment, and nothing else.

Rodolphus is a very rash character. He often rushes into things without thinking them through. He will listen to whatever instincts he has, without taking time to think of the consequences or outcomes. When it comes to thinking, Rodolphus has much trouble. He is much happier just doing what he wants instead of what he should.

The only person to really understand Rodolphus, is his brother Rabastan. While Rodolphus will never admit this, Rabastan is the only person who can actually convince Rodolphus to do things. To let another person in, is absolutely terrifying. Rodolphus already fears what may happen to Rabastan, and if there were another person added, he may just die of stress. When Rodolphus feels he is getting close to another person, he instantly shuts them out. This is one of many reasons he's never had a successful relationship.

Overall, Rodolphus has a very twisted mind. Instead of go job hunting, he'd rather go blast some puppies to hear their cries for help. He's confident, and a little over-confident. Having being backed completely by his parents, and never losing something substantial in his life has made Rodolphus more cocky than the average wizard. He knows he's great, and has kept that close to him. He's not afraid to get into an argument with someone, simply because he already knows the outcome, he's already won. His confidence has transferred over his search into the Dark Arts, and he is no longer afraid by the potential of some spells, everything will be ok, as long as he immerses himself in darkness.
